It is great pleasure that I announce my one-year anniversary of rejoining the Prairie Museum of Art & History/Thomas County Historical Society in Colby, Kansas.
My history with the organization began in 2013 when the former Director Sue Taylor hired me to become the organization's first-ever Public Relations Manager. In that capacity, I was overjoyed to manage all advertising and promotional efforts, help with fundraising campaigns including efforts which brought in about $80,000 to help with renovations of the state's largest barn, wedding and event rentals, and overseeing gift shop operations.
With the upcoming arrival of my second child in 2015, I decided to momentarily take a different path. However, I could not stay away from this incredible organization for too long.
Since November of 2018, I have been serving in the capacity of Grants Manager under the guidance of current Director Ann Miner. With her guidance, we have so far been able to attract over $140,000 in grant awards. With appreciation, 2018-2019 programming and operational support has been received from the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission, Humanities Kansas, Dane G. Hansen Foundation, Sunderland Foundation, Thomas County Community Foundation, Local Walmart Community Fund, and Midwest Energy's Community Fund.
With this support, we've been able to enhance technology capacities with new equipment and upgrades, host accessioning workshops and process an enormous local family's history, and repair the roof of the main museum building.
I look forward to the opportunities of the coming year. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in learning more about my partnership with the Prairie Museum of Art & History/Thomas County Historical Society.
With love for my community, Christina Beringer
